• 1. I want to file a Public Interest Litigation in the High Court of Delhi. Are there any rules or guidelines that I should follow?

• 2. What is the hierarchy of the officers in Delhi High Court?
  The hierarchy of the officers of High Court of Delhi, in ascending order, is: Administrative Officer (Judl.)/Court Master, Assistant Registrar, Deputy Registrar, Joint Registrar, Registrar, Registrar-General.
• 3. What are the probable objections which can be raised on a petition being filed?

• 4. How do I come to know about the Tenders being invited by Delhi High Court?
  They are available on the Delhi High Court website under the link “Tenders”.
• 5. Are there any forms and formats prescribed in regard to the cases being filed?

• 6. What are the categories of cases being filed in Delhi High Court?
  They are available on the Delhi High Court website under the link “Case-Categorization”.
• 7. From where can I get/access the High Court Rules?
  The Court rules are available on the Delhi High Court website under the links “Court Rules” and “Notifications and Practice Directions”.
• 8. Can a case pending in a High Court other than the Delhi High Court be transferred to Delhi High Court?
  Yes, this is possible, but only under the orders of the Supreme Court of India in a transfer petition.
• 9. What is the Court fee prescribed for inspection of records?
  The Court fee prescribed for urgent inspection is Rs.10/- and Rs. 5/- for ordinary inspection.
• 10. How can I inspect a judicial record?
  Inspection of record can be done by making an application, format of which is available on the Delhi High Court Website under the link “Forms” in the Inspection Branch on payment of prescribed fee, between 10.00 am and 11.00 am for urgent inspection for the cases listed on the same day and between 10.00 am and 3.00 pm for the next date.
• 11. Where can I get the details of Institution and Disposal of cases?
  Such details are available in the Annual Report of the Court, which is available on the website.
• 12. Can I contact the Court by sending an e-mail in Hindi?
  Yes. e-mail address is delhihighcourt@nic.in
• 13. How do I find out whether certified copy applied for in my case is ready or not?
  Certified copies are prepared and issued by the Copying Section, which may be contacted to ascertain whether the certified copy is ready. The status can also be ascertained from the Delhi High Court website by clicking the link “Certified Copies”.
• 14. I got information from the Cause list available on the website that my case is likely to be listed on a particular date, but it is not listed on that date. What is the reason for the same?
  This may be due to a clerical mistake. The attention of the Court Master of the concerned Court may be drawn to this.
• 15. How do I find out whether my case is listed in the Cause List?
  You may search for your case in the cause list. To get the cause list, click on Cause List or Cause list in PDF.
• 16. What are the timings for filing fresh cases and miscellaneous applications?
  The filing counter is open from 10 am to 4 pm on all working days of the registry . Urgent petitions/applications to be listed for the next day must be filed before 12 noon, after which the Petitioner has to seek permission of the Court.
• 17. Does the judgment I want to appeal against remain in effect even if I want to appeal against it?
  Yes. However, once an appeal is filed against the impugned judgment, an application for stay of that judgment may be filed.
• 18. Is it permissible to create a hyperlink to the High Court of Delhi website?
  Yes.
• 19. How can I obtain a certified copy of a Judgment?
  Certified copies are being provided under the rules incorporated in Chapter 5, Volume V, Delhi High Court Rules and Orders.One can obtain certified copy of a judgment by making an application in this regard under the above rules provided he is a party to the pending procedings. In a decided case anybody can apply for obtaining certified copy. At present two types of certified copies are being provided to litigant public.
  (i) Digital Copy: The digital copy is provided to the applicant through digital data available in the server which is firstly uploaded by the concerned Private Secretary after signature of the Hon’ble Judge and of the Registrar/ Joint Registrars, as the case may be.
  (ii) Manual Copy: The Manual certified copy is provided after the judgment Photocopied and compared with the original case file.
